Agut has been one of the most consistent players on tour this season, but unfortunately he doesn’t have a trophy to show for it. This year alone, he has had two Final appearances, in Montpellier Open and the Qatar Open, and then a Semi-final appearance at the Miami Open.

In the just concluded Monte Carlo Masters, he lost to Andrey Rublev in the Round of sixteen match. After a first round bye, Agut will face fellow Spaniard Pablo Andújar in the second round of the competition. Andújar has been on the tour for many years now. He has four ATP Titles to show for it. In 2017-18 he underwent three elbow surgeries and came back on tour.

In 2018  he won his first ATP Title in more than four years by beating Kyle Edmund and winning at the 2018 Grand Prix Hassan II. His recent form has not been great. He did reach the second round of the Australian Open. In the first round match here, he beat Gilles Simon 6-1 3-6 6-3.
