Sebastian Korda vs Hubert Hurkacz: Match Preview
The 35th ranked Pole has had a fine start to his 2021 season and is yet to drop a set at the tournament. Though it can be said the Pole has not had any serious competition or had to play any players in a similar caliber in any of his matches. Hurkacz’s only other final was in 2019, when he won at Winston-Salem to become the second Polish tour-level champion in the Open era.
In the semi-final of Delray, Hurkacz was serving for the match, fell behind 15-40 and then closed it out by winning four consecutive points, the last three with big serves. His success at Delray Beach means he may be seeded at next month’s Australian Open. That would allow him to avoid title contenders as Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic in the first round.
Building on momentum from the French Open, American Sebastian Korda has reached his first ATP Tour final. This will be Korda’s first ATP final appearance, and certainly not his last. His Delray Beach campaign started off with victories over Kwon Soon-woo and compatriot Tommy Paul.
Korda looked particularly impressive in the quarterfinals against No.1 American John Isner, as the 20-year-old had to dig deep and find a way through in a roller-coaster three set battle. Many expected Korda to fall in the semifinals hurdle against Cameron Norrie; however, he proved his doubters wrong and beat Norrie comfortably in straight sets.

Sebastian Korda vs Hubert Hurkacz: Match Prediction
Both players have no apparent injury from their previous matches, so they should not be struggling physically except for some extent of fatigue. Korda will be coming with exceptional belief as he has beaten two top 100 players this week, but will need to find a way to cope with the ‘first-time final’ nerves.
Hurkacz, on the other hand, has already won a title in his career, so he’s been there and done that. The viewers should anticipate a very close match as this could be the best of the tournament, predicting that the Pole will pull through.
Match Prediction: Hubert Hurkacz in three sets
