Fokina started his clay court swing of the year with the Andalucia Open. Although he did not go beyond the round of sixteen, it gave him practice for his next tournament which was an ATP Masters 1000 event. At the Monte Carlo masters, Fokina showed his prowess on clay by reaching the Quarter-final of the event. At that stage he lost(walk-over) to Stefanos Tsitsipas.
