Garin has been in decent form this year on clay. First, he reached the round of sixteen of the Monte Carlo Masters. At that stage of the tournament he came up against Stefanos Tsitsipas who beat him 3-6 4-6. The next tournament he participated in was the Barcelona Open. There he lost in the first round, but after battling it out for three sets against Kei Nishikori. In this tournament so far, he has not played a match.

His first round was a bye and in the second he won via walkover against Richard Gasquet. His opponent in the Quarter-final is Cameron Norrie. Norrie has been in decent form this season. He reached the Quarter Finals of the Barcelona Open and will be high on confidence.
