His first round match was against the formidable Felix Auger-Aliassime. The young Canadian provided some challenge to the Croat, taking the match to a decider set. But Cilic was resilient enough to emerge the victor with a scoreline of 6-0, 3-6, 6-3. His second match was scheduled to be against Corentin Moutet, but he received a walkover after Moutet withdrew due to testing positive for COVID-19.

The 32-year-old hasn’t managed to reach the quarterfinals in any event this year, so he will be looking to perform well in this match.

His opponent is Frenchman Ugo Humbert. The talented southpaw managed to pull through two tough three-setters on the way to the third round. His first round match was against Casper Ruud, winning the match with a 4-6, 6-2, 7-6(1) scoreline.

Humbert’s second round match was as tricky as it could get for him, coming up against Stefanos Tsitsipas. The world no. 6 was looking for a comfortable win and proceed to the third round. However, Humbert had other plans for him. He dominated the match with his forehand to produce an upset over the Greek in three sets.
