Taylor Fritz started his indoor hard court season playing the Petersburg Open where he was knocked out in the 1st round by Cameron Norrie. Next he played in the European Open where he lost in the second round to South African, Lloyd Harris. His last tournament was at the Vienna Open where again he suffered an early first round exit at the hands of Borna Coric. The American will be desperate to end the season on a high.

Richard Gasquet also has had a poor indoor hard court season, not winning a single match so far. The Frenchman was knocked out in Round 1 of the Petersburg Open by Daniil Medvedev and again lost in the first round at the European Open to Alex De Minaur. The Frenchman has struggled for wins ever since the season resumed in August and has not made beyond Round 2 of any tournament.
