ATP Rankings 2020 – Indian Players ranked in the World’s Top-500
Ramkumar Ramnathan, Sumit Nagal, Prajnesh Gunneswaran
After a 7-year drought, Sumit Nagal became the first Indian to win a match in the main draw of a Grand Slam singles event. The 23-year-old fought off Bradley Klahn 6-1, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 in the Round of 128 at the U.S Open 2020 to achieve the feat.
The last one to advance thus far was Somdev Devvarman. Even he did so at the U.S Open, but in 2013. Nagal made the headlines last year as well, for he succeeded to take a set off of 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer.
Indians ranked inside the TOP-200
World No. 128 Prajnesh Gunneswaran reatins the top spot in the ranks when considering the players from India. He stands atop with an impressive 506 points to his name. Further, he finished as the runner-up at the Challenger event in Orlando two days back.
Right behind him with 475 points is Nagal as the World No. 136. The youngster has already impressed masses with his display of skills at the U.S Open 2020.
World No. 189, Ramkumar Ramanathan occupies the 3rd spot with 340 points. Most recently, Ramanathan contended in the Challenger event in Eckental. While he advanced to final with finesse, the 26-year-old failed to ace past Sebastian Korda and lost the battle 4-6, 4-6.
A look between Top-200 to Top-500
Sasikumar Mukund leads this line-up. The 23-year-old stands firm as the World No.297 with 157 points. Moreover, Mukund sports a win-loss record of 8-6 on the hard-courts.
33-year-old Saketh Myneni follows suit with 81 points and a ranking of World No.444. Myeni represents India in the Davis Cup and succeeded to win a Gold medal in mixed doubles at Incheon Asian Games 2014.
Siddharth Rawat is the World No.455 with 81 points in his bag. Furthermore, the 27-year-old reached a commendable position 192 at the ITF singles ranking.
