World no.46 Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan will want to win his first title of the year in a mediocre play field at Singapore.
Bublik received a first round bye after which he defeated qualifier Altuğ Çelikbilek of Turkey in straight sets 6-2,6-2. The Kazakh looked in good form against the Turkish opponent hitting winners all over the court.
Bublik’s opponent in the quarter-finals, Yoshihito Nishioka is a ‘pocket-sized’ dynamite. Standing just 1.7m tall, Nishioka has one of the best speed and court-coverage on tour.
The 5th seed defeated American Michael Mmoh in the first round before defeating another American Maxime Cressy in the following round 6-4,6-2 to set up a clash with Bublik.
