Both men won their round of 16 clashes in straight sets but the way they won them cannot be any different. Mannarino had to fight tooth-and-nail against Egor Gerasimov to beat him 6-4, 7-6 (6), while Albot walked all over World No. 12 Denis Shapovalov to dispatch him 6-2, 6-4.

Mannarino had a momentum coming into this competition on the back to reaching the finals in Astana, where he lost to John Millman. The Frenchman also reached the third round at Paris Masters but lost to the eventual runner-up Alexander Zverev. But the World No.35 has had a tough-luck at Sofia, finding it hard to beat his considerably lower-ranked challengers.

Radu, on the other hand, is on a roll for sometime now defeating one heavyweight after another. The World No. 93 beat Denis Shapovalov of Canada in straight sets. The Moldovan is also serving extremely well and has also conceded only 2 break points so far.
