Augsburg vs Borussia Dortmund Player Ratings: In an entertaining match which took place at the WWK Arena, Dortmund were dominating the possession early on but were slow in their buildup today and ultimately drew 1-1.
Dortmund kept their patience and scored a goal with Hazard turning it in. Augsburg looked dangerous on the counter and created many chances. Bazee was a surprise scorer who leveled in the 78th minute to draw the game. Augsburg would be pleased with the performance and Dortmund would be disappointed .
Borussia Dortmund
Gregor Kobel(GK) (7.5/10): Kobel was stable and didn’t have much to save. His distribution was efficient.
Marin Pongračić(7.5/10): He had a tough time dealing with Pepi and Vargas but played the part in equalling Dortmund in the first half by resolute defence.
Matt Hummels(7.5/10): Hummels had a good game as he gained possession a lot of times and made some decent passes.
Emre Can(7/10): Can had an average game. He gave the ball cheaply which resulted in some bright chances for Augsburg.
Raphael Guerreiro(7/10): Guerreiro had an average game and was dispossessed many times and was futile in attack. His role as a wing back was redundant.
Julian Brandt( 8/10): Brandt passed the ball well and always was finding a runner to pass to. He was the best player for Dortmund on the pitch. He was everywhere.
Mahmoud Dahoud(8/10): Dahoud made some positive passes into the midfield and played well.He was looking dangerous. His clever turns and shots troubled the Augsburg defence and he bagged an assist.
Jude Bellingham (7.5/10): Bellingham was decent and looked dangerous. His composure brought calm in the midfield. Although on the losing end , he was impactful.
Alex Witsel(7/10): Witsel looked rusty and made some questionable decisions on the pitch. He lacked the preciseness of the pass today.
Donyell Malen(7/10): Malen was poor today. He was expected to fill in the boots of Erling Haaland but failed to live up to the expectation.
Thorgan Hazard(8.5/10): Hazard was vibrant and made significant effort in the press. His touches were great and scored a goal to give his team the lead
Substitutions:
Youssoufa Moukoko(7.5/10): Came for 30 minutes and was decent. Passed the ball well and was effective in the press.
Marius Wolf(7/10): Came on for Brandt in the 68th minute and was okayish. Didn’t help defensively as Dortmund looked dangerous.
Reinier Jesus(8.5/10): He looked lively after he came on for Dahoud. Made some promising runs.
Augsburg
Rafał Gikiewicz (GK)(7/10): Gikiewicz was rather free in the game but produced a fine save but couldn’t stop the own goal and Tigges.
Reece Oxford(8/10): Oxford was ever lively with the ball and was a threat from the right flank. He performed his defensive duties really well .
Jeffrey Gouweleeuw(7.5/10): Gouweleeuw was solid at the back and neutralised the Dortmund attack with elegance.
Felix Uduokhai (8.5/10): Felix along with Jeffeey was solid and made important blocks and scored a wonderful goal from the corner.
Mads Pedersen(8/10): His through balls were precise and were a constant threat to the Dortmund backline.
Arne Maier (8.5/10): Maier was the star man yet again. He bagged an assist and was effective in the midfield.
Daniel Caligiuri (7.5/10): Caligiuri was tidy in possession and made important blocks which were important and tidy. Though he made some silly fouls, some of his through balls were exquisite.
Michael Gregoritsch(7/10): He started the game well but became invisible after the first half. He maintained possession well.
Ricardo Pepi(7/10): His trickery kept Dortmund on toes and kept troubling them. But was useless in attack and was replaced early
Ruben Vargas(8.5/10): Vargas was involved in almost everything and was a constant threat. Though he was wasteful sometimes, his energy was a menace to the Dortmund defence.
Niklas Dorsch(8.5/10): The German national continued his impeccable form and was involved in the buildup. His towering presence made the Leverkusen attack look deadly.
Substitutions:
Florian Niederlechner(7.5/10): He did his job fairly well. He was tidy in possession and rotated possession well.
Carlos Gruezo(7.5/10): He replaced Dorsch and made no mistake on the pitch. He was good in possession.
Noah Sarenren Bazee(9/10): Bazee was a game changer for Augsburg today. He scored to draw the match and was a constant threat to Dortmund.
Iago(7/10): Came on the 71st minute and was tidy in possession and passed well.
