Austin Reaves does gender reveal of his brother's baby during Lakers vs Pacers

The Los Angeles Lakers star Austin Reaves took the court for Wednesday night’s match against the Indiana Pacers with a motive in mind. The scoring guard attempted to break the team’s three-day losing streak with 11 games left. However, he was also responsible for announcing his brother’s baby’s gender, and he had an iconic way of doing so.

Austin Reaves‘ brother Spencer and his wife Casey are expecting a baby, and the NBA star publicly displayed his excitement. Having known for weeks, Reaves was pumped to be the one to disclose the baby’s gender to the whole world.

That he did in the middle of the game, in the subtlest and coolest fashion, probably having started a trend. As heard on the broadcast, Reaves came out at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in white and pink sneakers.

A Lakers-dedicated account posted their congratulations on the baby girl on X, getting a reply from the father. Spencer is a professional basketballer in Germany where it was early morning hours at the time of the match. However, it did not stop him from tuning in to the match.

Replying to the X handle, Spencer joined in on the celebration and thanked his brother for the grand gesture. Additionally, he quipped if Luka Doncic also knew about it, nodding to his choice of shoes in the same match.

The recently added Laker donned a pair of red, seemingly unusual for such an event. While that remains a conjecture, Reaves’ dunks were from Rigorer, a Chinese sports company. The NBA guard has signed a contract with the growing franchise, also having signed names like Klay Thompson and Kyrie Irving.

Notably, Austin Reaves and Luka Doncic’s shoe choices were not the only thing that stood out in the on-road match. The two played a fair game, taking the team to a slug victory. Doncic led the team with 34 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. As for Reaves, he contributed 24 points, five assists, four rebounds, and one steal. Overall, he had an impressive game of offense throughout the match.

Austin Reaves’ older brother sheds light on their lives

Austin Reaves’ place in the Los Angeles Lakers is unquestioned among the new generation of players. Oftentimes, he remains the third pick after LeBron James and Anthony Davis to bring home a win. While his older brother Spencer Reaves is also a basketballer, he leads a contrasting life playing overseas. In a chat with NBA Analysis Network, he answered questions, shedding light on what their mundanity looks like.

Spencer revealed Austin Reaves’ love for LA and its ability to cloak him invisibly. His love was reciprocated by the city in the manner in which they had accepted the Lakers guard. For those reasons and many more, he had planned for professional basketball in the long run. While Austin was grateful for the NBA, Spencer had other plans, especially considering his struggle to where he was.

Regardless of the different leagues between them, Spencer believed Austin couldn’t outshoot him. As for the better one between the two, he quipped his younger sibling had a slight edge with his ability to contribute to everything.
