Fans are still processing what they just witnessed at San Diego Comic-Con. The MCU president, Kevin Feige, announced that Robert Downey Jr. will return to the MCU, not as Iron Man but as the supervillain, Doctor Doom. Along with the die-hard Marvel fanatics, a certain WWE superstar is also excited about his comeback. The name in question is Austin Theory.

The former United States Champion took to Instagram and immediately reacted to the news with a story. He was extremely excited about Robert Downey Jr. making his comeback in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Feige further announced that the Russo brothers would direct two new Avengers sequels, Secret Wars and Doomsday. Doctor Doom’s character will debut in the latter movie.

Austin Theory is currently going through a rough patch in WWE. He was on top of his game when he won the tag titles in a ladder match at WrestleMania XL. However, on the July 5th episode of SmackDown, he lost the title to #DIY’s Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa due to growing misunderstandings with his tag team partner, Grayson Waller.

The duo last wrestled on the July 19 episode of SmackDown after an intense argument with Cody Rhodes. They lost a tag team match against The American Nightmare and his partner, Kevin Owens. As of writing, Theory and Waller are not scheduled for a match at SummerSlam.

WWE is teasing a massive breakup of the team of Austin Theory and Grayson Waller

Things are not going well between Austin Theory and Grayson Waller. Their issues arose even before they won the tag team titles at WrestleMania XL. The Aussie star has been using him, as he always found a way to avoid helping Theory during beatdowns by rivals. Due to misunderstandings and a lack of chemistry, they lost their titles in just three months.

On the latest episode of SmackDown, that’s exactly what ended up happening. Once again, due to Waller’s shenanigans, the former U.S. Champion got knocked out by boxer Terence Crawford. After Elimination Chamber, when Randy Orton confronted both of them, Waller put Theory’s name forward to fight against him. 

WWE is slowly building towards Theory’s face turn, and fans are excited to see the dynamics between both stars. Although the WWE Universe knows it’s inevitable, they don’t know when WWE will pull the trigger. Nonetheless, only time will tell how his eventual babyface run pans out.
