After an impressive 5-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Toronto Maple Leafs took on the Colombus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night. Despite having the momentum on their side, the Canadian team suffered a crushing 6-2 defeat leading to captain Auston Matthews giving a stern reply.

Looking at the difference between the two teams, several fans thought it would just be a matter of time before the Leafs picked up another win. However, that did not turn out to be the case as they were bested by the hosts at the Nationwide Arena.

At one point in the game, the Maple Leafs found themselves 5-0 down as the Blue Jackets dominated the entire game. After the game, Matthews admitted that their opponents were better and they (Maple Leafs) “got their bu*** handed to them.”

Neutral zone was the Autobahn for them tonight. They were just coming in, flying through. We just got our bu*** handed to us a little bit. It’s a busy week for us, so there’s no time to sulk over this.

Maple Leafs coach Craig Berube admits team did not skate well in 6-2 loss

The Colombus Blue Jackets’ 6-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs surprised many. Following this loss, Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube admitted that his team did not skate well during the game.

The 58-year-old head coach, who took over the reins after Sheldon Keefe was fired earlier this year, also pointed out that they did not win many pucks battles. He, though, did credit the Blue Jackets for their performance.

I didn’t feel like we skated very well tonight. They skated through us all night. We didn’t win many puck battles tonight, didn’t defend very well tonight and that’s what you get. It boils down to they outskated us. They outworked us and they were a harder team than we were. Bottom line.

Following this loss, the Maple Leafs fell to fourth in the Atlantic Division table with a 4-3-0 record. Meanwhile, the Blue Jackets improved to a 3-3-0 record to climb up to sixth in the Metropolitan Division standings.

The Leafs will have the chance to bounce back on Thursday night when they face against Berube’s former team, St. Louis Blues. After this game, they will have to prepare for a huge game against one of their arch-rivals, the Boston Bruins, on Saturday night.
