Suryakumar Yadav‘s omission from the Indian side for the tour Down Under led to a huge uproar in the cricketing circle. The Mumbai batter has been IPL’s one of the most consistent batsman over the years. Yadav followed up the India snub with a scintillating knock 79 against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The Mumbai Indian‘s batting mainstay has amassed 374 runs this season. Yadav finished IPL 2018 with 512 runs in 14 games while getting 424 runs in 16 games last season. Yadav’s 5326 first-class runs in 77 games only strengthen his claim for a seat on the flight to Australia.
Be patient

Breaking his long silence over the matter, India coach Ravi Shashtri shares that it’s always difficult to break into side as competitive as India and urged the aspiring cricketers to be patient. Shastri goes on to add that 3 or 4 more players are “on the fringe” like Yadav.
“That’s why we say to these youngsters – be patient. Like Suryakumar there are 3-4 other players on the fringe but when you have a team that is packed with talent and experience it becomes very difficult to get in,” Hindustan Times quoted Shastri.
“I remember period in my career when 1-6 in the Indian batting line-up everyone was certain of their places and it was difficult for anyone to penetrate that middle-order and yet you had some people who were scoring tons of runs in domestic cricket and knocking at the door,” he added.
He could be in danger of injuring himself

Speaking over vice-captain Rohit Sharma’s sudden omission from the squad, the former India batsman shares that it’s solely on medical grounds. Shastri adds that the selectors are keeping a close eye on the status of his injury.
“It’s being handled by the people in charge of the medical part of it. We don’t get involved in that. They have submitted a report to the selectors and they have gone about their business.
“I have no say, neither I am a part of the selection. All I know is the medical report which says he could be in danger of injuring himself again,” Shastri said.
