Logan Martin, an Australian BMX standout, was robbed only days before the start of the Paris Olympics, creating major disruptions to his training. The event took place when robbers stole into the Australian team’s vehicle. The goal was to take critical equipment required for Martin’s competition.
The incident is part of a disturbing trend of criminality surrounding the Olympics, with reports indicating that other Australian contingent members have also had security concerns. Two Nine Entertainment crew workers covering the Olympics were attacked in a separate incident that seemed to be a robbery. They were targeted as they returned to their rooms. Elsewhere at the Paris Olympics – Football match delayed and Trans women delivered the flame
The Paris Olympics began with severe instability on the first day, with violence breaking out during a men’s football match between Argentina and Morocco. The game, which was played in Saint-Etienne, ended in mayhem when spectators invaded the pitch.
This caused the match to be suspended. Argentina, boasting stars from their recent Copa America success, struggled at first against Morocco, who took the lead with a goal from Soufiane Rahimi.
The situation worsened as spectators reportedly threw objects onto the pitch to demonstrate their displeasure. The match was finally labeled “interrupted” on the official Paris 2024 website, with no word on a prospective reschedule.
It did restart after two hours, and Morocco eventually won the game 2-1, with a late equalizer from Argentina getting chalked off.
Olympic flame, on the other hand, was delivered by a trans woman on the opening day of the Games. This historic moment was led by a prominent activist and athlete, who has been a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights.
The Paris 2024 Olympics will begin on 25 July with the United States Women’s National Soccer Team (USWNT) taking on Zambia at Stade de Nice. The match is the two teams’ first encounter, and the USWNT hopes to build on their Olympic triumph.
The opening day of the Olympics will feature preliminary events in a variety of sports, including archery and fencing. The ceremonial opening ceremony is slated for July 26, which will mark the commencement of the 19-day festival.
