Russian tennis ace Daniil Medvedev suffered a shockingly ugly meltdown during his third round Australian Open 2021 match against Serb, Filip Krajinovic.

The Russian seemed to be cruising having claimed the first two sets at the Rod Laver arena but his opponent refused to give up and came up with a dogged fight to take it to the fifth and final set.

As his opponent kept fighting back, Medvedev got frustrated with each passing game and his anger became evident during the fourth set when he kept screaming at the player’s box which led to his coach Gilles Cervara to leave the stadium in anger. Medvedev then went on to win the game in the fifth set.

Daniil Medvedev was asked about the meltdown post match and he said, “He said just before leaving that he’s sure I’m gonna win the match, but he’s gonna leave me alone to be more calm.” referring to his coach.

Reportedly, Medvedev was asking his coach to ‘let him play’ as he wanted and for him to stop talking too much. The Russian was seen screaming, “Unbelievable, this is unbelievable.” during the fourth set.

However, it all ended well for the Russian as he won the fifth set with a bagel to make his way to the fourth round. In what was an incredible stat, it was the first time ever that he had won a fifth set in his whole professional career. He is currently on a 17-match win streak and will be up against American Mackenzie McDonald in the fourth round on Monday.
