Novak Djokovic is not the most liked tennis player on tour. But the amount of hate the champion receives even from fans is unreal. In his 3rd round match against American Taylor Fritzat the Serbian was constantly ridiculed and called names by fans.

With Djokovic 2-0 up, one particular fan kept shouting “ Let’s go Rafa”, clearly to instigate Djokovic. But Djokovic did respond back to him, making mock crying gestures. Overall ugly and unsavory scenes at the Australian Open 2021.

In the fourth set of Djokovic’s match against Taylor Fritzat, booing fans were asked to leave the Rod Laver Arena. The Australian Open authorities announced over loudspeakers that the fans had to be back home by midnight, covid related restrictions, hence they had to leave mid match.

This actually worked in Djokovic’s favour as he got an extra 10 mins to recover from his injury. Djokovic suffered an injury while 2-0 sets up, and saw his lead disappear and the match levelled at 2 sets each. In the end, Djokovic held on to win  in 5 sets, 7-6 6-4 3-6 4-6 6-2.
