After moving mountains to get on with a new edition of their tournament, the organisers of the Australian Open 2021, have released the details of the prize money that will be up for grabs for the players of the ATP and the WTA Tour

Further, the CEO of Tennis Australia, Craig Tiley, has stated that inspite of the challenges posed due to the coronavirus outbreak, the organisers have committed to putting forth the best show possible. 

“We look forward to offering the players what we believe. Will be one of their best playing experiences in 2021,” Tiley said. Furthermore, the maiden Grand Slam of the year is set to begin from a delay date of February 8 of next year.

Division of the total prize pool of $71.5 million

As per a press release by the governing body for tennis down under, the Tennis Australia, the total prize pool will not see any variation and will continue to be the large sum of $71.5 million

The organisers have given much consideration to players who compete in the qualifying rounds, and have increased the prize money for the same. Moreover, the players who clear the initial rounds will also cash a greater cheque than that which was given this year. 

The competitors who don’t succeed to make it past the first round of the prestigious event will earn AU $100,000 each. This is an increase of 15% from the payout of this year.

A full break-up of pay brackets for each round will be released in the upcoming days.
