The Greek star Stefanos Tsitsipas took on Mikael Ymer of Sweden in the third round of the Australian Open 2021. This is the first meeting between the two players at this stage. The Swedish is ranked 205 and the Greek is ranked 6 in the world. The result of the game was as expected Tsitsipas was able to take a comfortable win.

The match was won by Tsitsipas with a score of 6-4,6-1,6-1.

Tsitsipas moves to the Round of 16

Tsitsipas took the first game of the first set. However, Ymer was able to make it a tie at 2-2. This tie got extended to 3-3 with both the players showing tremendous athleticism in their volleys. The tie got extended to 4-4. But due to a few unforced error, the Greek was able to take the set for himself. The set ended with 6-4.

The second set started with Tsitsipas on the serve. And Tsitsipas was able to take a good lead with 3-1. He was able to further extend the lead by making it 4-1. He took the set 6-1 with a dominant performance.

By the third set the stats were strongly with Tsitsipas and it was evident as he took a 4-1 lead. Tsitsipas took the set with the score of 6-1

In the post match interview, When asked about how it felt to go to the fourth round Tsitsipas said that it was nice to play with Ymer. When asked about the absence of a crowd he said that the vibe was different and that if he gets more wins he will be able to see the crowd again. When asked about his potential opponent he said that he has played both the players in the past and is expecting a great fight from them.
