Aryna Sabalenka vs. Mirra Andreeva: Match Preview
Aryna Sabalenka had a strong start to her 2025 season by winning the Brisbane International title. Each round of the Australian Open 2025 however has proven to be increasingly tougher for the World No. 1. She sailed through the first round with a comfortable victory over Sloane Stephens.
Despite trailing in the second set, Sabalenka demonstrated resilience, securing a hard-fought victory over her second round opponent Jessica Bouzas Maneiro. Her third round match was even more challenging, with both the sets being intensely competitive. Despite the challenging nature of the match, Sabalenka overcame Clara Tauson.
Elsewhere, in the first round of the Australian Open 2025, Mirra Andreeva defeated Marie Bouzkova with a straight-set victory, 6-3, 6-3. However as opposed to Sabalenka who has not dropped a set so far in the tournament, Andreeva did drop a set in both her second and third round matches.
Despite a tough opponent in Moyuka Uchijima, Andreeva managed to overcome her. In the third round Andreeva defeated Magdalena Frech to advance to the fourth round.
Aryna Sabalenka vs. Mirra Andreeva: Match Prediction
Aryna Sabalenka leads the head-to-head record with Mirra Andreeva by 3-1, meeting thrice on clay court and once on hard court. Their first encounter was at the 2023 Madrid Open, where Sabalenka secured a straight-set victory, followed by another win in Madrid in 2024. Andreeva claimed her first victory over Sabalenka, in three-sets at the 2024 French Open quarterfinals. Earlier this month, Sabalenka defeated Andreeva in the semifinals of the 2025 Brisbane International.
While Andreeva is a promising teenage player, Sabalenka will be a difficult challenge for her. Albeit having defeated her at a Grand Slam match before, that victory was on clay court while at the Australian Open she will face Sabalenka on hard court, which is the Belarusian’s forte. While Sabalenka is the likely victor for this match, this match might not be easy for her, considering the challenges she has faced in the prior rounds of the tournament.
Match Prediction: Aryna Sabalenka to win in straight sets
