19th seed Madison Keys is into her third Australian Open semifinals after an amazing display to beat Elina Svitolina. The American star has been on rampage form of late and arrived in Melbourne after claiming the Adelaide International title earlier this month. She will now face a tough test in Iga Swiatek to reach the final of the Melbourne Grand Slam.
Swiatek is seeking to win the Australian Open for the first time in her career and has been playing her best tennis. In fact, the Polish star has only one loss this season, which came at the United Cup against Coco Gauff. In Melbourne, she’s yet to drop a set and has only dropped 14 games in the tournament.

As aforementioned, Madison Keys has been in brilliant form this year. The 29-year-old started her season at the ASB Auckland Classic, advancing to the quarterfinals before falling to eventual champion Clara Tauson. She bounced back to claim the title at the Adelaide Open. At the Australian Open, she secured a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Ann Li in the first round and edged past Elena-Gabriela Ruse 7-6(1), 2-6, 7-5 in the second round.
She then went on to defeat Danielle Collins in straight sets in the battle of the Americans. After that, she excellently defeated Elena Rybakina 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 in the fourth round. She continued with the form and earned her place in the last four of the Australian Open after defeating Elina Svitolina in three sets.
On the other hand, Iga Swiatek began her season at the United Cup, where she helped Poland finish as runners-up for the second consecutive year. The 23-year-old arrived in Melbourne with a desire to win the title for the first time in her career and she kicked off brilliantly with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Katerina Siniakova.
She then outclassed Rebecca Sramkova 6-0, 6-2 in the second round. The third was one of her best matches of the season as she defeated Emma Raducanu 6-1, 6-0 before beating lucky loser Eva Lys 6-0, 6-1. On Wednesday (January 22), she beat Emma Navarro 6-1, 6-2 to reach the semifinals.

Madison Keys and Iga Swiatek have faced each other five times on the court. The latter has a 4-1 lead in their head-to-head record. But three of the five meetings have come on clay while two on hard courts.
On hard court, Swiatek and Keys are level 1-1 and the only time the American defeated the Polish star was at the 2022 Cincinnati Open, where she won 6-3, 6-4.
Swiatek has been on terrific form coming into the match. She reached her second Australian Open semifinals and could reach the final for the first time. The Pole ace is yet to drop a set in the tournament and looks favorite to win her sixth meeting against Keys.
