Every college football fan wants to experience Monday, January 19’s CFP final. To book a seat, one must pay a staggering amount of money or otherwise risk being left out. The high demand for seats is understandable given the caliber of the teams set to compete against each other.
The so-called outsiders and overachievers, the University of Indiana, stunned the college football world by toppling powerhouses Ohio State, Alabama, and Oregon, setting up a showdown with the storied program of the University of Miami.
More importantly, the venue of the final is Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium. It may appear as an unfair advantage to some, as it’s the home turf of the Hurricanes, but there’s someone in the Indiana ranks who is familiar with these parts like the back of his palm.
Fernando Mendoza, the Hoosiers quarterback, grew up at 305 Miami Avenue, not far from the university. So, it’s similar to a homecoming for the Hoosiers quarterback.

Locals are hoping to see Mendoza sign off college football with another Heisman-caliber performance. That said, a large portion of the crowd is sure to cheer for the Canes since they’re the hometown team. Moreover, Miami boasts an extensive list of alumni who played in the NFL. Despite being the lowest-ranked team to ever play in the college football final, they are sure to come and motivate the current group of players looking to rewrite history.

For these reasons, the ticket prices for the game are at an all-time high. The average ticket price for the 2026 CFP Final has soared to $4,000, which is almost double what spectators had to pay to book seats for last year’s final between Ohio State and Notre Dame.
There’s even more dire news for fans looking to dive into the resale market for tickets. Bloomberg reported that the resale prices are in an entirely different stratosphere, with tickets reaching a whopping $30,000. This has also driven up the gameday parking fee, with a prime spot near the stadium now going for a steep $9,000.

It’s not quite at the level of the Super Bowl just yet. According to Bloomberg, the average price for a standard seat at last year’s Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles was around $7,500, with the most expensive seats in the stadium reaching up to $56,000. Of course, neither team will be in the 2026 final, scheduled to take place on February 8, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
Fernando Mendoza receives a message from a former Indiana quarterback
The Hoosiers have never played in an NCAA college ball final. The basketball always towered over the football program on the campus. It changed after Curt Cignetti took over as head coach. He signed Mendoza from the transfer portal ahead of the 2025 season and didn’t drop a single game to reach the final.
Prior to Mendoza’s rise to fame, another quarterback had ruled these parts. Kurtis Rourke also transferred in from the Buckeyes. He went 10-1 before getting drafted in the seventh round by the San Francisco 49ers. Rourke recorded a special message for Mendoza as he prepares to face the Canes in Miami.
I just wanted to reach out and congratulate you on an amazing season so far, for you and the team. It has been awesome to watch you guys week in and week out. Just wish you guys good luck. First national championship coming up… Go Hoosiers.
Curtis Rourke said
