Stephen Curry has built quite a reputation as a family-centric superstar in a world where athletes at the top of their sport generally have massive egos. Over the years, he and his wife, Ayesha Curry, have created a beautiful family that has become part of the NBA’s folklore.

The Golden State Warriors star has a fan following that has witnessed him being the ultimate husband and father to his wife and four children. At the same time, they have seen how he has navigated his NBA career.

Curry went from being a point guard facing injuries and doubts over his longevity, to becoming the all-time leader in 3-point shots, and four titles to go with his Finals MVP and 2 league MVP awards.

All of that makes him a 1st-ballot Hall of Famer once he retires. Then he could slide into his life after basketball, diverting his entire attention to Ayesha Curry and their kids. However, it seems his wife did not want this life at all.

I didn’t want kids, I didn’t want to get married; I thought I was going to be a career girl, and that’s it. I had my eyes set on my goals.

Mrs. Curry said on the Call Her Daddy podcast

After she said this, podcast host Alex Cooper asked if Stephen Curry knew about those goals, and if he understood them:

He’s so gracious. He tries to resonate with me. But he just can’t. He also comes from a place where it’s stupid.

Mrs. Curry revealed

The mother of 4 added that her husband does not understand where she was coming from, and tried to shut down those thoughts by suggesting that Ayesha Curry was not sure if being successful is what she wanted.

Ayesha Curry laments not having time to think about her goals

Ayesha Curry does have engagements of her own, as the 36-year-old has delved into television, production, and other businesses. However, it was not like this when her marriage to Stephen Curry just started:

After we got married, we found out we were pregnant with our daughter so quickly. I didn’t even have time to think about what I wanted anymore. It’s so interesting, I spent my entire life trying to work towards something, and then it kind of just disappeared.

The mother of 4 then added that over the years, she has managed to do things for herself, which have helped her bring some semblance to the goals she set as a teenager.

These revelations are what led some to mock Ayesha Curry, labeling her as someone who was not grateful for the life she has with Stephen Curry, and instead, wanted to be a superstar in her own right.

Killer Mike apologizes for his comments at Ayesha and Stephen Curry

A few weeks after the first clips of this podcast episode dropped, it caught the attention of many. One among them was rapper Killer Mike, who wrote on social media that Ayesha Curry’s claims were becoming an embarrassment for her husband.

He did get a response from Stephen Curry, who asked the Grammy Award winner to ‘stay in his lane’. When Mike appeared on Club Shay Shay, the first thing he did was to apologize to the Curry’s.

I gotta say, first and foremost, to Mrs. Ayesha Curry and her husband Stephen Curry, I apologize for my statement being misconstrued. I was just stoned up trying to make a joke up. It wasn’t my damn business like my wife says, so I’m sorry y’all.

The rapper then added that the Golden State Warriors star was right to defend his wife, which he believes is what all men should do. He again apologized and reiterated that he was not in his best senses when he tweeted that out.
