On January 3, SmackDown shifted to a three-hour weekly show on USA Network. With the one-hour extension, fans expected more stars to be featured on television. Moreover, reports stated that WWE planned to showcase underutilized talents more. Among the names rumored was Blair Davenport. However, the 28-year-old star continues to remain absent from WWE programming.

As such, Dr. Chris Featherstone, via X, recently provided an update on Davenport. As per Featherstone, WWE is seemingly looking for the appropriate story to fit Davenport into. Furthermore, WWE has not changed its mind about showcasing Davenport. The company will incorporate her into a storyline that will help benefit her in the long term.

Since being drafted to the main roster, Davenport has wrestled a few times on the blue brand. The British star last competed on the 22 November edition of SmackDown. Davenport took part in the Women’s US Title tournament. However, she was eliminated in a first-round triple threat match after Chelsea Green pinned her to advance to the next round.

Prior to this, Blair Davenport engaged in a feud with Naomi, with the duo battling it out in multiple matches during the summer. Interestingly, Davenport formed a brief alliance with The Unholy Union. However, it was short-lived as the trio lost to the Big 3 of Naomi, Bianca Belair, and Jade Cargill. This six-woman tag team match also served as the end of Davenport’s rivalry with the former Women’s Champion.

Which other WWE stars can benefit from hour-long extension to weekly shows?

Unsurprisingly, Blair Davenport isn’t the only WWE star who has been absent from television for weeks. Katana Chance and Kayden Carter have also not appeared on Raw since the first round of the Women’s Intercontinental Championship tournament.

Dragon Lee

With the hour-long extension to both weekly shows, the women’s division should feature more, especially with the introduction of midcard titles. On the men’s side of things, Dragon Lee has taken a back seat since November, only appearing briefly in backstage segments. Many expect Lee and his mentor, Rey Mysterio, to soon wrestle against The New Day on Raw.

Another visible issue has been the lack of depth and match repetitiveness. The transfer window has not helped in solving the situation, with a lack of transparency in the trades. As such, calling up talent from NXT should help in solving both problems. Nevertheless, only time will tell how the landscape of WWE shapes out on the road to WrestleMania.
