Bad Bunny‘s Super Bowl LX promo has everyone talking. Bad Bunny loves the spotlight, but he also uses his platform to inspire change in society. For his next big act, the 31-year-old reportedly plans to introduce a queer element to his halftime performance on February 8 at Levi’s Stadium, San Francisco.

Bad Bunny will follow in the footsteps of Eminem, Beyonce, Rihanna, Shakira, and Snoop Dogg, taking center stage at football’s biggest event. He expressed his excitement at the opportunity to represent his Puerto Rican culture.

What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.

Bad Bunny said in a message addressed to his fans

After months of anticipation, Bad Bunny and Apple Music released the promo for the halftime performance. Bunny sent an open invitation to the entire world to join him on the day.

No matter who you are or where you are from – to join Bad Bunny… and get excited for the rhythm, unity, and cultural richness that only Bad Bunny can bring to the global stage.

Days after the reveal, Radar Online reported that Bad Bunny will honor the queer community by wearing a specially curated dress.

Let them complain. The dress is already being sewn.

The NFL was already under scrutiny for choosing a Spanish-speaking musician to headline the biggest show of the year, and Bunny’s choice of wardrobe is sure to spark even more backlash. That being said, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell isn’t backing down from his words.

I’m not sure we’ve ever selected an artist where we didn’t have some blowback or criticism. It’s pretty hard to do when you have literally hundreds of millions of people that are watching… We’re confident it’s going to be a great show.

Bad Bunny is an LGBTQIA+ ally

Bunny received a lot of support from the LGBTQIA+ community when the far right attacked him on various media platforms after the NFL announced him as the lead performer for the 2025-26 Super Bowl halftime show. That’s because he has been a vocal sympathizer of the queer population.

One compassionate act he has done to support the group is choosing not to reveal his sexuality to the public. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times in 2020, Bad Bunny revealed that sexuality “does not define me,” because “I don’t know if in 20 years I will like a man. One never knows in life. But at the moment I am heterosexual, and I like women.”

His biggest nod to the LGBTQIA+ community was when he starred in the biopic Cassandro alongside Gael García Bernal. It’s a biopic about Saul Armendariz, aka Cassandro (Bernal), and his life as the first openly gay wrestler in Mexico’s Lucha Libre. Bad Bunny played the role of his lover, Felipe.

There’s only a couple of weeks left until the Super Bowl. Only four teams remain in the chase for the coveted Lombardi Trophy: the Los Angeles Rams, the Seattle Seahawks, the New England Patriots, and the Denver Broncos.
