President Donald Trump plans to skip next month’s Super Bowl. In making this announcement, Trump also took a dig at the NFL for selecting Bad Bunny as the lead singer for the halftime show.

Trump attended last year’s Super Bowl at the New Orleans Superdome, featuring the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, a contest ultimately won by the NFC East champions. However, he feels the venue for the 2025-26 edition is just too far for the 77-year-old.

It’s just too far away [for me]. I would, I’ve [gotten] great hands [at] the Super Bowl. They like me.

Donald Trump told the New York Post

It will be held at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, right next to an electrical substation.

Trump’s announcement comes a couple of days after Radar Online reported that Bad Bunny plans to honor the queer community. For that reason, he will wear a special, custom-made dress as a symbol of his allegiance to the LGBTQIA+ movement.

Alongside Bad Bunny, the NFL has invited American rock band Green Day to kick off the Super Bowl with some of their biggest hits. The band is also known for openly voicing its disapproval of Trump. Billy Joe Armstrong, in particular, once compared Trump to Hitler.

I am anti-them. I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred… Terrible.

Donald Trump isn’t a fan of Bad Bunny

Trump’s love for football is no secret. He attended the CFP Final between Indiana and Miami earlier this month and had participated in several other college football events prior to that.

That being said, he also didn’t shy away from calling out the NFL for selecting Bad Bunny to headline the Super Bowl halftime show.

I don’t know who[Bad Bunny] is. I don’t know why they’re doing it. It’s crazy. And then they blame it on some promoter they hired to pick up entertainment. I think it’s [choosing Bad Bunny to perform at the Super Bowl] absolutely ridiculous.

Trump declared

The feeling is mutual. Bad Bunny doesn’t like Trump or his party’s views on immigrants. As a form of protest, he chose to host his show in his hometown of Puerto Rico rather than on the mainland. In an interview with I-D Magazine, the 31-year-old singer and musician said that the presence of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) was a major reason for excluding the US from his tour plans.

People from the U.S. could come here [in Puerto Rico] to see the show. Latinos and Puerto Ricans of the United States could also travel here, or to any part of the world. But there was the issue of—like, [expletive] ICE could be outside.

Kristi Noem, of the Department of Homeland Security, has confirmed that a battalion of ICE soldiers will be present outside Levi’s Stadium on February 8.

I have the responsibility for making sure that everybody [who] goes to the Super Bowl has the opportunity to enjoy it and to leave. And that’s what America is about.

Kristi Noem told Rolling Stone

Four teams remain in contention to be crowned as the new king of football: the New England Patriots, the Denver Broncos, the Los Angeles Rams, and the Seattle Seahawks. It starts with two back-to-back conference title games on Sunday in Denver and Seattle.
