Outside of being the most-streamed Spotify artist for three consecutive years, Bad Bunny takes immense pride in WWE. He grew up as a fan, aspired to perform inside the squared circle, and eventually lived his dream. The 30-year-old recently chatted with The Rolling Stone, where he was asked about his contributions to bringing the WWE Backlash PLE to his birthplace of Puerto Rico.
The singer-rapper kept pushing for it during his sporadic stints with the company. Also, the outlet inquired about San Benito‘s potential return to WWE and whether he has the itch to wrestle again. He’s all for it one more time, even willing to risk his life in the ring if the situation calls for it.
The Puerto Rican even joked about scaring his mother off his ambitious WWE venture. For now, Bunny doesn’t have a timeframe on when it would probably happen. But he affirmed that he keeps in touch with those at WWE. It’s a well-documented fact that Bad Bunny and Triple H share a ton of mutual respect for each other.
The Game attended the Latino’s concert at the Alamodome, a week before the Royal Rumble in 2023. Detailing his roadmap for a WWE comeback, Bunny said he’d love to take more time to spruce himself up physically. The last time he was in the ring with Damian Priest, he never felt out of place.
The rapper gave his compatriot a run for his money and eventually dispatched Priest in a San Juan Street Fight. But that wasn’t his debut. Instead, Bunny’s first wrestling gig came at WrestleMania 37, where he tagged alongside Priest himself, beating The Miz and John Morrison. The King of Latin Trap has also competed in the 2022 men’s Royal Rumble match.
Has Bad Bunny spoiled the location of WWE Backlash?
As mentioned above, Bad Bunny played a significant role in taking WWE Backlash global. It was the first time the PLE had emanated outside of the continental US. In 2024, it was held in France. And if Bunny’s words are to be believed, the said PLE is headed to Mexico.
Though he didn’t specify when, in the Rolling Stone interview. However, there’s a remote possibility that it might not end up being true. Some accounts on X have picked up that a parody of wrestling insider WrestleVotes disseminated wrong info about Backlash’s foray into Mexico.
The fans are heavily speculating that Bunny may have picked it up from there and mentioned that when he was speaking with The Rolling Stone. WWE has yet to make an official announcement on the location of Backlash 2025.
