Indian badminton head coach, Pullela Gopichand has launched a national scholarship program at The Sports School for students who want to pursue badminton as a full-time career. The Sports School Badminton Academy, in collaboration with technical partner Badminton Gurukul, has joined together to offer the finest training methodologies to students in order to cultivate their enthusiasm to play the game and convert it into a full-fledged career under the leadership of Gopichand. Students having the will and talent to thrive in the sport will be granted up to 100% scholarships without any effect on their studies.

Under the chief mentorship of Gopichand, The Sports School Badminton Academy with technical partner Badminton Gurukul has come together to provide the best training methods to students to groom their willingness to play the sport and turn it into a full-fledged profession,” stated the school’s website.

Students will be chosen for the scholarship, which will cover both educational and sports expenses, based on their academics and athletic achievements, and will be subjected to trials.

Badminton Gurukul is an initiative that has been started with the idea to promote physical literacy and create positive playing experiences through quality coaching imparted in an organized and systematic manner. This is a professional academy that will be providing training at the beginner, intermediate and professional levels and at the same time ensuring full-fledged guidance for the young badminton enthusiasts,” said Pullela Gopichand.

Pullela Gopichand offers Students up to 100% scholarships

The scholarship program is open to students in the age groups of U13- U19. Up to five students will get 100% and 25-75 percent scholarships each year. The scholarship will not only cover students’ sports training and related costs, but it will also assist them in finishing their academics in a way that allows them to focus equally on both fields.

Gopichand, Sankar, and Supriya Devgun, the founder and MD of Badminton Gurukul, are on the selection committee, who will be assessing the students for the program.
