If there is one thing that cannot be said about Baker Mayfield, it is that he is not entertaining. The quarterback comes up with the most creative ways to celebrate touchdowns. His iconic moment of planting the flag on Ohio State’s logo after he beat them during his days at Oklahoma will never be forgotten.
Today, Baker Mayfield went into MetLife Stadium and played spoilsport in backup quarterback Tommy DeVito‘s season debut.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback scored a touchdown with seconds to go before halftime approached and what better way to celebrate being up 23-0 than by mocking your opponent?
Oh my. Baker Mayfield just scored a TD and made sure all #Giants fans saw him doing the Tommy DeVito celebration.

Mayfield put up both his arms in the air while pinching his fingers and shaking his wrists. He did DeVito’s celebration before he got a chance to do it on his home turf.
With both teams coming off byes and facing challenges, much attention before the game centered on the Giants’ decision to bench and release quarterback Daniel Jones. DeVito, known for his boldness, was named the starter and tasked with reigniting coach Brian Daboll‘s team, as he had done last season. However, it was Mayfield who stole the spotlight with his dynamic play and playful jabs at DeVito.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers dominated the New York Giants in Week 12
His move is likely to have had an impact on Tommy Cutlets as the quarterback failed to have the ideal debut. He threw for 189 yards and failed to throw for touchdowns. The Giants got frustrated and brought out Drew Lock toward the end of the game as there was no hope left for the Giants.
The home team’s scoring came from Devin Singletary, who scored a rushing touchdown and that was it. The Buccaneers, on the other hand, went on to drop 30 on the Giants. It was far from the debut that Tommy DeVito had wished for, but the hometown hero has been thrust into an unfortunate situation abruptly.
The quarterback admitted that he did not realize Baker Mayfield was mocking him with his celebration until somebody pointed it out to him.
With this loss, the Giants move to 2-9 on the season whereas the Buccaneers improve to 5-6.
