Manchester City midfielder Rodri became the first Premier League player to win the Ballon d’Or since Cristiano Ronaldo did it in 2008. The City man beat Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr. to the award, which resulted in a lot of controversy in social media and among players alike.
The 28-year-old recently picked between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as to who claims the ‘GOAT’ title. Having played against both superstars while at Villarreal and Atletico Madrid, Rodri named Lionel Messi as his GOAT.
The Argentine owns the record for most Ballon d’Or wins at 8, followed by Cristiano Ronaldo at 5. Rodri cited several reasons, including the level of danger and talent in making Messi his GOAT.

City take on Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday before playing Liverpool at Anfield on the 1st of December. City have conceded an uncharacteristic total of 10 goals in their last four defeats and will need their players to step up at a crucial moment in their season.
As for Rodri, City have reportedly submitted a £100 million bid for Paris Saint-Germain star Warren Zaire-Emery. Hakan Calhanoglu and Joshua Kimmich also remain as options to fill in the vacant spot in City’s midfield until the Ballon d’Or winner returns to complete fitness.
