The Cincinnati Bengals host the Baltimore Ravens at Paycor Stadium on Sunday in a Week 13 rematch. The Bengals defeated the Ravens in a thriller of a game and chipped at the Ravens’ chances of making the playoffs.

The Bengals, supercharged by Joe Burrow’s return following his toe injury, defeated the Ravens 32-14. Burrow completed 24-of-46 passes and threw for 261 yards and two touchdowns, one to Andrei Iosivas and another to Tanner Hudson. Burrow also set up six field goal opportunities, which Evan McPherson sealed shut with well-placed kicks through the rungs.

It was the 60th appearance between the two divisional rivals. The Bengals have won 28 of those duels, including this Week 13 encounter. The Ravens have the upper hand with 32 instances where they secured a win over the Bengals. As they prepare for the 61st game between the two, the stakes are higher than how it was in Week 13.

The Ravens are fighting for the division title with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers play the Miami Dolphins this week and are projected to go ahead of the Ravens if the latter can’t get away with a win. Meanwhile, the Bengals’ chances of making the playoffs dwindled when they lost in Week 14 to the Buffalo Bills. However, four wins in the next four games can maybe secure them a divisional title and a route to their first postseason in three years.

Why can the Baltimore Ravens win?

The Baltimore Ravens are well-positioned to win this matchup because the Bengals’ biggest weakness still aligned perfectly with Baltimore’s greatest strength. Despite a slight defensive improvement, Cincinnati ranks last in rushing yards allowed and 31st in yards per carry.

Even with Derrick Henry seeing just 10 carries in Week 12, he still gashed the Bengals for 60 yards. With Baltimore’s ground game finding a better rhythm last week and the Ravens able to control tempo through the run, they can dictate possession, wear down the Bengals’ defense, and create high-percentage scoring opportunities off play-action.

The Ravens have also added pressure of postseason. A second loss to the Bengals this year would further deteriorate their chances of making the final seven from AFC. Especially, since there’s one game against the Pittsburgh Steelers awaiting them.

Why can the Cincinnati Bengals win?

Joe Burrow’s return has actively pushed the team to perform better than they did in the weeks they didn’t have a seasoned passer leading them. Burrow started the return with a banging win and he’s mostly expected to repeat the offensive output.

Talking about playoffs, the Bengals are on the cusp of playoff elimination. They can only make the playoffs by winning out the division and hoping the Steelers go 1-3 in the rest of the games. There’s a lot at stake, and the Bengals will push the Ravens with much more intensity.
