Lamar Jackson and the 3-5 Baltimore Ravens are set to play the 4-4 Minnesota Vikings in Minnesota for the first time since 2021. Despite experiencing a rough start to the season, both teams bounced back to win last week’s game in the build up to the week 10 fixture at US Bank Stadium.
Jackson picked up a hamstring injury in week four loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and missed the next five games in which the Ravens went 1-4. Lamar’s first game post-rehab turned out to be against the struggling Miami Dolphins. The 2x NFL MVP made quick work of the Dolphins by throwing four touchdowns (7th career 4TD haul) and recorded a 136.7 passer rating (highest among QBs in week 9 fixtures).
The Vikings received positive news ahead of playing the NFC North table toppers Detroit Lions. Head coach Kevin O’Connell gave second year quarterback JJ McCarthy the greenlight to start against the Lions, replacing the battered and brusied Carson Wentz.
Similar to Jackson, McCarthy missed five games due to an aggravated ankle injury. The 2024 first rounder walked into Ford Field and handed 5 win Lions its third defeat of the year. He completed 56% of his passes for 143 yards, threw 2, ran for 1 touchdown while conceding the lone pick of the game.
Jackson played the Vikings in 2021. That fixture needed overtime to decide the outcome. Jackson threw for 266 yards, 2 touchdown and 3 picks that day.

Why can the Ravens win?
Jackson is the main driving force for the Ravens. The AFC North franchise tends to win games when he is on form. His 72-27 record needs little introduction. Running back Derrick Henry has shaken off his early season tendency of fumbling the balls in crucial moments. Henry also crossed 100 rushing yards only the third time last week.
Why can the Vikings win?
McCarthy must step up to the plate for the Vikings to have any shot of beating the Ravens. Last week, he became the first player in NFL history with two or more touchdown passes and one or more rushing TDs in at least two of his first three career games.
McCarthy’s best bet is frequently connecting with star wide receiver Justin Jefferson. The All Pro wide out only needs 76 more yards to pass legendary Torry Holt to record the second most in league history through a player’s first six seasons. Running back Jordan Mason has a great opportunity to make a mark in this game in the absence of veteran Aaron Jones who is dealing with a shoulder injury.
