Barack Obama joins NBA aces to congratulate Florida on spectacular NCAA win
Former President Barack Obama watched as the Florida Gators and Houston Cougars battled in the NCAA national championship.

Barack Obama congratulates Florida Gators
Today the NBA scheduled just two games. They did not want to schedule more games as they knew all eyes will be on the NCAA men’s national championship game. Basketball fans were going to watch the Florida Gators take on the Houston Cougars to hoist the national title.
These games usually draw millions of viewers, and the NBA was wise not to try and compete with that. College basketball holds a different place in the hearts of fans as they watch young men battle with pride, something that is not that evident in the NBA regular season.
That pride saw the Houston Cougars upset Cooper Flagg and his Duke Blue Devils in an epic Final Four game. On the other hand, the Florida Gators stopped the Auburn Tigers from continuing their hot-handed run which started in March Madness.
This meant tonight’s game was going to be a battle for the inches. When the game started, that is what captured the imagination of fans. The Cougars and Gators were tied for a while, but then the former executed a series of plays to leap into a double-digit lead.
But when the game resumed, the Florida Gators started to take control and slowly chipped away at the deficit. They took the lead and held on to it for a while, but the Houston Cougars had possession of the ball with 20 seconds to go.
After they brought the ball up the court, they executed switches to confuse their opponents. Finally guard Emmanuel Sharp received the ball and he elevated to try and shoot a long three-pointer. But he could not and dropped the ball. Even though he signaled to his teammates, the Gators hustled and gathered the ball, winning the game 65-63.
Barack Obama leads the congratulations for Florida
The entire basketball community saw how the Houston Cougars fumbled that final possession. But that play did not reflect how the game progressed. The Florida Gators had deservedly won the NCAA national title after coming back down from a double-digit deficit.
Former President Barack Obama, himself the certified hooper in chief, was one of the first to congratulate the winners. Along with Barack Obama were NBA stars and other celebrities who felt the Gators deserved this win. Check out those messages below.
What a comeback! Congrats to Walter Clayton, Jr. and the Florida Gators on their third national title. This was a fun team to watch. https://t.co/PB0dT309tc

The Florida Gators won their third ever NCAA national basketball title. The first two were in back-to-back seasons when current and former NBA stars Al Horford, Joakim Noah and Corey Brewer led the team. Now this was senior guard Walter Clayton Jr.‘s turn.
Florida – Houston reached Final without any five-star recruits
The Florida Gators as a team were ranked No. 1 in the nation owing to their stellar regular season record. They managed to win 30 games and lose only four, with those losses all in single digits. This shows the team were united and gunning for the same goal right from the start.
The Houston Cougars had a similar trajectory, and their four losses were also within 5 points. These two teams managed to upset fan favorites through good coaching and unity. But what truly surprised analysts was that both teams were devoid of standout superstars.
Unlike Cooper Flagg or the Rutgers stars, both Houston and Florida did not have a single five-star recruit on their roster. Yet, they ended up with an equal shot at winning a national championship. With NIL and the transfer portal bringing chaos to March Madness, these two programs have proven that winning requires commitment.
