Barrack Obama reveals modern NBA players similar to Larry Bird

ThreeFourTwo Productions is back with their signature podcast. Except, ‘The Old Man and the Three’ hosted by JJ Reddick, will now be ‘The Young Man and the Three’ podcast, hosted by a number of young NBA guests from previous editions of the show.

With Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton hosting the first episode, the podcast returned with a bang, bringing on the 44th US President Barack Obama as their first guest. Obama and Haliburton sat down to talk about a number of issues, but the highlight of the show was the high level of hoop talk between the two.

During a segment, Obama was asked about his opinions on the USA vs Serbia semifinal game in the Paris Olympics earlier this year. The former President revealed that he had been nervous because of Jokic and the Serbian team’s stellar play. He even compared the play of Serbian star Nikola Jokic and that of NBA legend Larry Bird.

I have to tell you, Serbia got me nervous and I guarantee you he got the coaches nervous too because look Jokic is a beast I mean you know he is as smart and effective a player and he’s big right so it’s not just that, … he’s got the vision Like Larry Bird and he’s like you know Sabonis’ Dad.

Barack Obama said

Speaking of the Serbian big man, Obama revealed that he looked at Jokic as a player similar to Bird. He compared their playstyles, drawing similarities between the smart, effective, and bruising play of Jokic and that of Bird or EuroHoops legend Arvydas Sabonis.

Obama went on to speak about how the elite shooting of Serbia and the bruising play of Jokic had worried the former president about the USA’s winning chances. The American team had entered the fourth quarter down by 13 points.

With time dwindling, it was the trio of LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Steph Curry that saved the game for the team. USA would overcome the Serbian team before defeating France in the gold medal game of the Olympics.

Barrack Obama recalls his hilarious handshake clip from the Olympics

Barrack Obama dropped by to visit the USA basketball team prior to the Olympics this summer. As he greeted the players, fans noticed the hilarious similarity between Obama’s handshakes and a Key&Peele comedy skit from nearly a decade earlier.

The skit has been a part of pop culture for a long time, as it shows the difference between former President Obama greeting white people versus Black people. Well, the former President brought that skit to life during the meet and greet with the Olympic team.

Obama greeted a number of black NBA stars with a brotherly dap before reaching Gonzaga coach Mark Few and greeting him with a formal handshake.

I’m going down the row. A lot of those guys I knew… So, then Coach Few, I had never met. And he put out his hand. So, I’m like, ‘alright, I don’t know, is he going to be comfortable if I pull him into a bro hug.’ I don’t know. So, I just shook his hand.

Barrack Obama stated

Although it may have been unintentional, even the 63-year-old can’t deny the obvious similarities to the skit. But one thing’s for sure: Barrack Obama is a certified hoophead.
