Donald Trump's remarks on Giannis Antetokounmpo's heritage brings out some words from Barack Obama

With the US Presidential elections about to come to a close, Donald Trump is doing everything he can to rally his supporters. In Milwaukee, he talked about Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo and his Greek heritage. However, that reference was soon taken out of context as former President Barack Obama decided to reply to his successor.

Donald Trump mentioned the Milwaukee Bucks superstar during his last campaign at the Fiserv Forum. The former president referred to him as possibly the best player in the NBA. Trump even suggested that the Greece international was a genuinely good person.

But prior to all that, the 78-year-old suggested that both he and Giannis Antetokounmpo were Greek enough, suggesting that he has enough ‘Grece’ in him, referring to his European ancestry. The Democrats and former American President Barack Obama reacted to Trump’s comments.

Obama and the Democrats consider it a racist remark as the former two-time league MVP has his roots in Nigeria. In that context, they felt Trump was suggesting that if a Nigerian can consider himself to be Greek, then he could also be Greek enough.

Who cannot apparently understand how an NBA superstar can be both Greek and Black? Who suggests any Mexican crossing the border is a criminal and a rapist. Who spreads ridiculous fantasies that Haitians are eating people’s pets? Do you think that is someone who will look out for you?

This reference has sparked a debate amongst many. News media and the sporting world are trying to dissect if Donald Trump actually had a racist reference to it, though the Republicans think otherwise.

Republicans think Donald Trump did not racially profile Giannis Antetokounmpo

As per his supporters, Donald Trump simply made a reference to the Milwaukee Bucks star. With the way he spoke, they felt that he did not racially discriminate against Giannis Antetokounmpo in any way.

Instead, he just remarked that the Milwaukee Bucks was one of the best players in the NBA. Trump’s words could have a way of taking shots at the American basketball players who have opposed him on every front.

The top two superstars of the league, LeBron James and Stephen Curry, have thrown their support behind Trump’s opponent Kamala Harris. By praising Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee, it was just a way for Trump to garner support from the locals.
