Manchester United are currently going through what is their worst start to a league campaign in recent times. The club is currently in 13th position and have only managed to secure a total of 11 points in their opening eight games. Previous reports state that the club has decided to continue with Erik ten Hag for the near future.

That being said, latest reports claim that former FC Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez has been approached to be the potential successor of Ten Hag. Xavi coached boyhood club Barcelona from 2021 to 2024, during which he led them to a La Liga and Spanish Super Cup.

Even though the Spaniard laid the foundation for Lamine Yamal and several other La Masia talents, he was eventually relieved of his duties by President Joan Laporta on 24th May 2024.

From Leny Yoro to Lisandro Martinez and Kobbie Mainoo, the club has missed many important players this season. In a recent interaction with the press, Ten Hag expressed his frustration with the lack of fitness in his squad.
