Barcelona captain set to miss CRUCIAL fixtures following recent knock against Sevilla

FC Barcelona won 4-1 away from home in the latest La Liga 2024/25 match against Sevilla. They closed the gap to two points with Real Madrid at the top of the table. Despite the win, they had to suffer with bad news because one of their captains and important centre-back Ronald Araujo, suffered an injury during the game.
A tackle from Saul Niguez forced Hansi Flick to take off the defender in the 22nd minute and replace him with Pau Cubarsi. In the post-match press conference, Flick stated that he has to wait for a day or two to know the exact details about Araujo’s injury.
However, a report from Mundo Deportivo has clarified that the defender might be sidelined for up to three weeks. However, he still needs to undergo tests at the Ciutat Esportiva to determine the extent of the injury. It could be a blow for the side, given that Andreas Christensen is also not in the squad for Barcelona.
Araujo had been sidelined with injury for more than half of the season. Inigo Martinez recently returned from injury, and hence the pressure will be on him yet again to pair up with Cubarsi at the heart of the defence. Meanwhile, the Uruguayan defender’s career continues to be marred with injuries. In the January transfer window, he was linked with a move to Juventus but opted to extend his stay at Barcelona.
Liverpool want to sign Frenkie de Jong in the summer transfer window from Barcelona
There have been constant reports floating in the media throughout the ongoing season regarding the long-term future of Frenkie de Jong at Barcelona. After coming back from injury, he was not being played in the first team, and Flick was preferring Marc Casado over the Dutchman. However, recently he has started to play regularly.
Meanwhile, TodoFichajes via Fichajes has reported that Liverpool are looking to sign the Barcelona midfielder in the upcoming summer transfer window. de Jong has a contract with Barcelona till 2026 and is one of the highest earners on the side. There have been many reports clearly stating that Barcelona are not happy with de Jong not reducing his wages.
He has still not signed a new contract at the club and has drawn interest from the Reds. De Jong is definitely one of the best midfielders in the world due to his ability to carry the ball forward, his passing ability, and his vision. Hence, he will be a great signing for the Reds. They are looking to offer €35 million to sign him from Barcelona.
