Barcelona are currently in the headlines for their inability to re-register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor. They have had financial struggles for the last few seasons and are awaiting decisions on their two important players. However, they are still looking into the January transfer window for some offensive signings given that they are back to the 1:1 rule.
Barca are targeting some left-wingers in the transfer market. Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo reports that they have been keeping tabs on Luis Diaz of Liverpool and Rafael Leao of AC Milan for quite some time. They have a shortage of natural left-wingers in the club who can take on defenders and decide the outcomes of matches.
Diaz has a contract with Liverpool till the summer of 2027. However, as per reports, he is not looking to extend his contract at Anfield given that he does not feel the wages offered are adequate for his new contract. Diaz has played an integral part in the attacking role for the Reds. However, Barcelona can feel optimistic given that the player is not happy with his wages.
Liverpool are at the top of the Premier League points table and the UEFA Champions League points table. So, it is not surprising that the Reds will let their attacker leave the club in the ongoing January transfer window. However, Barca can change the situation with a good offer in the summer if something doesn’t materialize in the winter transfer window.
Barcelona’s interest in Rafael Leao doesn’t surprise anyone
Leao is one of the best left-wingers in the world currently. He has a good pace and is dangerous in one-on-one situations. Leao has put in the goals and assists for his club, AC Milan. However, in recent times, his relationship with the club has declined, especially with the former manager, Paulo Fonseca.
The degrading relationship has increased rumors about his potential departure from the San Siro. Joan Laporta was interested in bringing Leao to the club in the last summer transfer window. However, his wish wasn’t fulfilled due to the financial problems of the club.
Leao’s agent is Jorge Mendes, and he maintains a very good relationship with Laporta and Barca. If Barcelona’s financial situation improves and they present a compelling offer, then the deal might be fulfilled. It remains to be seen if Barca can go on to secure the signing of any one of the two players. However, as of now, they are just concentrating on registering Olmo and Victor.
