To say the least, FC Barcelona have been busy in the transfer market. Despite the club failing to land prime target Nico Williams, Barcelona’s management have quickly shifted their focus to other alternatives.
Names like Kingsley Coman & Luis Diaz have come up in recent weeks, although no real developments have happened regarding the same. Much to the surprise of many, reports suggesting that the Spanish giants are making a move for AC Milan’s Rafael Leao have surfaced.
Within hours, reports claiming that the club are willing to sign him this month has fans on the edge of their seat. The 25-year-old is contractually bound to the Italian outfit till 2028, although Leao’s interest in joining Barcelona may play a role in the move.
Finances may also pose a hurdle for the move as Milan are preparing to ask ‘at least’ €100 million for the player. FC Barcelona are looking to counter this problem by involving players into the deal. The club also hope that the player’s agent- Jorge Mendes– will play a significant role if the deal is to materialize.
Barcelona midfielder Ilkay Gundogan ‘agrees’ to rejoin Manchester City
Ilkay Gundogan has been solid and reliable throughout the last season under Xavi Hernandez. The midfielder who was also elemental to Julian Nagelsmann‘s squad as Germany hosted UEFA Euro 2024 recently announced his international retirement. However, in a surprising turn of events, Gundogan is now on his way out of the club and reports state that he is set to make a return to Manchester City.
The $25 million worth midfielder still has a year left on his contract, but the club are willing to let him go on a free transfer. This is because Barcelona want to save the €15 million owed to him as salary, which will also facilitate in registering new signing Dani Olmo. News outlets also claim that Pep Guardiola has ‘approved’ the player’s return.
That being said, the final decision now rests on the 33-year-old. There are offers from the Middle East as well, with there being no doubt as to the latter option being more financially lucrative. Gundogan’s relationship with the club and fans were reportedly ‘spoiled’ when he demanded more emotion from the squad after a frustrating loss in the El Clasico last season.
