FC Barcelona finally slayed their demons as they hosted Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday. The Blaugrana, coached by former Bayern boss Hansi Flick, set up a nightmarish outing for the German giants as Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski terrorized Manuel Neuer and his defense. 4-1 read the final score as Barcelona claimed their second win in the competition.

Bayern were placed on the back foot from the very first minute, as captain Raphinha rounded Neuer before confidently passing the ball into the net. Bayern, however, responded in the 18th minute, as Harry Kane got on the end of a Serge Gnabry cross to pull his side level. The visitors were also disallowed another goal as VAR cited offside in the build-up.

Robert Lewandowski also got on the scoresheet against his former side, while Raphinha went on to score another two goals. The forward was awarded the Player of the Match award in his 100th appearance for the club as he was hoisted in the air by his teammates. Fans also noticed that Barcelona finished the game with 8 La Masia players on the pitch.

I’ve never had a player like Raphinha in any of my teams. He gives it his all. With and without the ball, he’s very good. He’s always smiling.
