FC Barcelona are reportedly gearing up for a free transfer for Tottenham Hotspur skipper Son Heung-min during the next summer transfer window. The Catalan giants are chasing the South Korean star, as his contract expires at the end of the ongoing season.
Son Heung-min has entered the final year of his contract at the North London side. He had last signed an extension back in 2021. As the January transfer window begins, the 32-year-old is now free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs. Son is yet to agree on a new deal with Spurs, and the club’s poor run and long-standing trophy drought might compel him to depart.
A transfer might also help him improve upon his recent performances. He has scored just thrice in the club’s last ten encounters. Amid uncertainty surrounding the South Korean forward’s future, Barcelona has emerged as a possible destination. Spanish media outlets recently reported that the Catalan club is eyeing a free transfer for the 32-year-old next summer.
It would be an appealing move for the Tottenham skipper, as the Catalan club offers him regular Champions League football. However, the left winger’s massive £190,000 per week wages could prove to be a hindrance, owing to Barca’s fragile financial conditions.

Nonetheless, in case Son Heung-min departs Tottenham, he would leave behind a formidable legacy. He is the club’s fifth highest goalscorer with 172 goals in 431 appearances. Meanwhile, Barcelona continue to endure their financial struggles, having most recently failed to register summer signing Dani Olmo.
Three Bundesliga stars on Barcelona’s radar for the upcoming summer transfer window
Spanish media outlet El Nacional recently reported that Barcelona are eyeing a triple transfer swoop for three Bundesliga talents next summer. The list includes Bayern Munich stars Joshua Kimmich and Leroy Sane and Bayer Leverkusen center-back Jonathan Tah.
The Bayern Munich duo of Kimmich and Sane see their contracts expire next summer and might be snapped up by Barca. Manager Hansi Flick is also known to be an admirer of the two players. Kimmich would be a brilliant replacement for the out-of-form Frenkie de Jong. Meanwhile, Tah, who was previously linked with a move to Bayern, could form a solid duo with Ronald Araujo.

The Catalan giants are hoping to be creative with their recruitment strategy, as they struggle financially. Moreover, in order to sign the three players, Barcelona would have to make a lot of room to afford their wages as well as register them.
