Barcelona vs Elche: In the home encounter, Barcelona sneaks through with a late winner against Elche.

Right from the start of the game, the Barcelona attack was looking very threatening and they delivered quickly in the 16th and 19th minute courtesy of Jugtla and Gavi. After that Elche was finding it difficult to make a comeback. But in the 2nd half, Elche made some important substitutions by bringing in Milla and Morente. A little lapse in concentration by Barcelona defenders helped Elche get 2 quick goals to get back in the game. But substitute Nico Gonzalez’s 85th-minute goal ensured that Barcelona gets 3 important points from their home game.

Barcelona:

Marc Andre Ter-Stegen (GK) (6/10): Ter-Stegen didn’t get many chances in the 1st half. But in the 2nd half, he conceded 2 goals in 5 minutes.

Jordi Alba (6/10):  Alba looked good in patches. In the attacking front, he made some amazing runs and passes. But he failed to stop Elche attackers on multiple occasions.

Clement Lenglet (7/10):  Lenglet was at his best at defense, he tracked down the forward movements of Fidel and Marcones. In the counter-attacking situations, he made some great runs to create key passes Gavi and Sergio Busquets.

Eric Garcia (7/10): Garcia looked the best at defense for Leicester. He had 81% passing accuracy and also created a few chances at attacking the front for his team in the 1st half.

Ronald Araujo (7/10): Started at the right-back position, Araujo was outstanding at clearing balls against Boye and Perez. He also created some movements with Garcia and Busquets at the attacking front.

Gavi (8/10): At the central midfield position, Gavi showed some great mobility and created some amazing chances with the ball. He also scored the amazing 2nd goal for Barcelona

Sergio Busquets (7/10): Busquets looked very agile and assertive on Elche’s defense. He created spaces for De Jong and Gavi to get in scoring positions.

Frenkie De Jong (9/10): De Jong was outstanding right from the 1st minute for Barcelona with passing and creating chances. He also made some amazing key passes to Gavi and Jordi Alba.

Ferran Jutgla (8/10): Playing his 1st official LaLiga match for Barcelona, Jutgla made some amazing off-the-ball movements. He scored the 1st goal in the 16th minute with a brilliant header.

Ousmane Dembele (7/10): Dembele looked very sharp both in attacking and defensive movements. He provided some amazing key passes to Jutgla and Gavi. Also, with his sheer pace, denied Elche attackers from scoring in counterattacking scenarios.

Abde Ezzalzouli (7/10): Abde supported Dembele and Jutgla beautifully with his swift passes and runs. He was finding it difficult to decide to shoot or pass on multiple occasions but he kept Elche’s defense under constant pressure.      

Substitutes:

Nico Gonzalez (8/10): After coming as a substitute in the 72nd minute, Nico made his presence felt in the midfield with amazing runs and through balls to Dembele and Gavi. He delivered a crucial goal in the 85th minute to secure the win for Barcelona.

Riqui Puig (7/10): Xavi made a tactical move of bringing Puig to maintain the pace in the midfield. This move was a masterstroke as it helped to maintain the pressure on Elche and it also yielded a goal in the final minutes for Barcelona.

Edgar Badia (GK) (7/10): Badia looked good in patches at goal. He conceded 2 goals in the 1st half but in the 2nd half, he blocked some good close chances by Barcelona

Johan Mojica (7/10): Throughout the game, Mojica managed to block the attacking partnership of Dembele and Jungle. In the attacking build-ups, he showed some promising moves but failed to create chances.

Enzo Roco (5/10): At Centre back, Roco struggled throughout the game both in offense and defense set up for Elche. He was finding it difficult to block the movements by Gavi and De Jong.

Diego Gonzalez (7/10): Diego was very good tactically as the back. He had 85% passing accuracy and provided some crucial passes in the 2nd half to allow Elche to get scoring chances.

Helibelton Palacios (6/10): Palacios right from the start was struggling at defense. He was suffering to stop the build-up of Abde and Jutgla in the 1st half. In the 2nd half, he looked more settled and made some important clearances.

Fidel (6/10): From the start, Fidel was unable to bring the pace and creativity in the midfield for Elche. He was subbed off in the 59th minute.

Omar Mascarell (6/10): Mascarell was struggling in the midfield for Elche. He had only 67% passing accuracy and his movements were well tracked by Garcia and Lenglet.

Ivan Marcone (6/10): He also struggled at the midfield along with Mascarell. Marcone had 65% passing accuracy and also struggled on multiple occasions to block De Jong’s movements.

Josan Fernandez (6/10): In the game, Josan played well in patches in the midfield. He made some important blocks against Dembele through balls. But couldn’t contribute much in attacking the front.

Lucas Boye(7/10): Boye had an outstanding day. He was able to run through the defensive trio of Barcelona on multiple occasions. But his passing accuracy was only 65% which often gave possession to Barcelona.

Lucas Perez (7/10): Perez was very creative in the attacking front for Elche in the minimal chances that he got in the game. In the 2nd half, he penetrated Garcia and Lenglet on multiple occasions but couldn’t cash on those moments.

Substitutes:

Tete Morente (8/10): After coming in as a substitute at 46th minute, he showed a brilliant game to get possession for Elche. He scored an outstanding goal in the 62nd minute and also delivered an assist to Milla to get 2 goals in 5 minutes for Elche.
