“Baseless speculation and completely untrue” – Bryson DeChambeau rubbishes rumours of not playing PGA Tour events
Bryson DeChambeau
American golfer Bryson DeChambeau has sidelined all media reports citing he wouldn’t play in any more PGA Tour events. These rumours came out when he wasn’t in the field this week at the Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club and with ongoing rumblings of a Saudi Arabia-funded breakaway tour approaching players.
In a recent interview, DeChambeau’s agent, Brett Falkoff reckoned that all these claims are “baseless speculation and completely untrue”.
“It’s absolutely false. It’s baseless speculation and completely untrue. The only reason he’s not playing this week is because he’s injured,” Falkoff told GOLF.com.
“It’s more false reporting, and totally inaccurate,” Falkoff said.
“Disappointed to miss the Genesis Invitational”
The California native DeChambeau stated that he was very disappointed in not playing the upcoming golf tournament. He further took to his social media handle and quashed the aforementioned reports.
“I am very disappointed to miss the @thegenesisinv this week at one of my favourite golf courses on tour. I am currently in the process of rehabbing a hip and hand injury, which I am making positive progress on day by day.
Many false reports are going around by the completely inaccurate media. Any news regarding my health or playing schedule will come directly from me and my team only. This is just another inaccurate report. I look forward to getting healthy and seeing everyone soon!” he wrote in an official statement.
“Everyone needs to chill,” DeChambeau wrote. “Yes, I hurt myself but not from hitting it far. I slipped and fell this week on Tuesday unfortunately. I know people probably [won’t] believe me, but that is the truth. I will be back stronger and better than ever in a few weeks. … Thank you for your concerns and keep hitting bombs!! I will be back …”
