Has Angel Reese declared for the 2023 WNBA Draft? Details on LSU star’s basketball future
Angel Reese led LSU to the national title and became an overnight sensation in women's basketball. This has led many fans to speculate whether she has declared for the 2023 WNBA draft.

A lot has been going for the LSU star Angel Reese in recent times. After spearheading her team to the NCAA Women’s title, the forward has been at the center of some Twitter backlash, predominantly because of her celebration with hand gestures against Iowa’s Caitlin Clark. However, no one can deny the talents she possesses and her exploits in leading LSU to the national championship.
While the conversation around Reese hasn’t been very diverse, many are keen to know if she has declared for the 2023 WNBA draft. The short answer to that is no. According to the rules of the league, a player must have turned or should be turning 22 in the year of the draft. Reese, however, is due to celebrate her 21st birthday in May.
“I’m not in a rush,” Reese said, talking on the I AM ATHLETE podcast “I’m chilling right now. I am in no rush to go to the league. The money I’m making is more than some of the people that are in the league that might be top players.”
Reese is reported to make $876,000 going up and getting a $485,000 jump since the beginning of the Final Four. Moreover, she is now the third-ranked female basketball player on the women’s NIL rankings.
Is LSU accepting FLOTUS Jill Biden’s invitation?
The national champions are invited to meet the sitting President every year. However, this year there was a bit of a rocky situation. With first lady Jill Biden proposing the invitation to the runners-ups as well, Angel Reese expressed her displeasure and unwillingness to visit the White House.
Reese spoke on a podcast, explaining her side of the matter. She also expressed how she doesn’t accept the apology made by the President and the First Lady. She jokingly said that she’d go to the Obamas to meet Michelle and Barack while pointing out that if she were on the losing side, they wouldn’t have received an invitation.
While the player seemingly declined the invitation, LSU spokesperson, Michael Bonette, announced that the team would, after all, accept an invitation from President Joe Biden. Although he didn’t mention which players would end up visiting, Coach Kim Mulkey has announced that she would. Updates on Angel Reese’s attendance still remain speculative.
