Angel Reese became a star when she led Louisiana State University (LSU) to their first NCAA Women’s Division 1 championship as a sophomore, defeating the Iowa Hawkeyes led by Caitlin Clark 102-85 in April of this year. This game broke TV rating records, with a peak of 12.6 million viewers, nearly matching the viewership of the NBA Finals. This remarkable championship victory has earned Angel numerous accolades, including the Breakout Athlete award at the 2023 ESPY Awards.
After winning the award, Reese received many congratulations, and she quote tweeted one from Cam’Ron Fletcher, which may have confirmed the rumors about the two college basketball stars dating. She wrote, “aww thank you! i love you” to Fletcher’s congratulated tweet of “Congrats !! @Reese10Angel now come back home to me.” They have previously hinted at their relationship by sharing several pictures together on social media. While neither of them has officially confirmed the rumors, they continue to engage in flirtatious exchanges on social media.
On the other hand, during her acceptance speech, Angel spoke about her journey to LSU and expressed gratitude to her family, teammates, and coaches. She specifically mentioned Kim Mulkey, saying, “I want to thank LSU, my family, my teammates, my coaches, and Kim Mulkey, along with everyone who supported me. Last year, I transferred from the University of Maryland to LSU. I joined a new family, so I want to say thank you. And we’re aiming for another championship, period.”
Who is Cam’Ron Fletcher?
Cam’Ron Fletcher, a guard for Florida State University, stands as one of the top collegiate players. However, his collegiate career did not commence at FSU. He emerged from Vashon High School, where the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association honored him with the title of Class 4 Player of the Year.
During his freshman year, Fletcher joined the Kentucky Wildcats as a top 100 prospect in high school but did not meet expectations. He averaged only 1.7 points and 1.7 rebounds in the eleven games he played for Kentucky before transferring to Florida State University, where he has unlocked his true potential.
Throughout his three years at Florida State, Cam has faced injuries. Most recently, he missed the 2022-23 season due to a knee injury after averaging 10.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.3 steals in 10 games as a junior. However, it was not his basketball talent that brought him into the spotlight; it was his association with Angel Reese, the LSU women’s basketball star who recently won the NCAA Division 1 championship.
