Caitlin Clark references to Kobe Bryant iconic line after Iowa advances to Final Four.

The Iowa Hawkeyes had an incredible win against the USC Trojans to advance to the Final Four in March Madness. Unsurprisingly the Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark took the team to a sweet victory. After the game, a hyped Clark made a reference to an NBA legend to highlight her bigger goal than the qualification for the Final Four.

In the win, Caitlin Clark scored a double-double of 41 points with 12 assists and seven assists. In the post-game interview, the 22-year-old talked about winning in a tough region after hard work by the team. To end her interview, the star referred to NBA veteran, the late Kobe Bryant.

To get back here is really hard. This region was loaded with so much talent but job’s not finished.

Bryant made the statement in 2009 when the Los Angeles Lakers won the first two games of the NBA finals. Noticing the star’s seriousness, a reporter asked Bryant the reason behind his unhappiness despite the team’s lead. The Lakers legend who was known for his competitive mentality, gave a straightforward answer.

What’s there to be happy about? Job’s not finished. Job finished? I don’t think so.

Certainly, for Clark, the job is not finished as the team is now qualified for the semifinals. As Clark announced herself that this would be her last year in college, the star is certainly aiming at winning the national championship so that she can end her college career victoriously.

Caitlin Clark shares a deep connection with Kobe Bryant

This is not the first time Clark has expressed her love for Kobe Bryant through her actions. After the Hawkeyes won the Big Ten Tournament last month, Clark channeled her inner Bryant by recreating his iconic 2001 championship photo. The star posed the same as Bryant did with his championship trophy with the Lakers.

Clark has also shown her admiration for Bryant by rocking his signature shoes on the basketball court. Especially when the star breaks important records in her career. The day Clark broke the NCAA’s all-time scoring record, the athlete was seen wearing Kobe 5 “Bruce Lee” editions. Clark wore the same shoe as she defeated the LSU Trojans to qualify for the NCAA semifinals.

To add to Clark’s collection, last week, Bryant’s wife Venessa surprised the Iowa team by gifting them a pair of ‘Kobe 8’ Venice Beach shoes for their Sweet 16 matchup. After all these links and Clark’s honorary gestures towards Bryant, it seems safe to say that the player looks up to the star and desires to follow in his footsteps.
