Fans are calling for Bayer Leverkusen’s name to be officially changed to Bayer Neverlusen, and there’s a reason why. The side managed by Xabi Alonso are on the verge of making history after rescuing their unbeaten record with an unbelievably late equalizer in the Bundesliga. The 2023/24 champions had nothing to lose against VfB Stuttgart, but chose not to give up their streak anyway.
Fans expected fireworks as two of the most interesting sides in Bundesliga went head to head against each other on Saturday night. Two quick goals from the visitors momentarily silenced the home crowd at the BayArena as Deniz Undav and Chris Fuhrich gave Stuttgart a two-goal lead. Surprisingly, this was the first time all season that Leverkusen were trailing by more than one goal!

As the initial shock subsided, Alonso’s men got back into gear and immediately scored their first through Amine Adli. His grounded shot from the edge of the box was enough to beat Alexander Nubel at his far post.
As everyone thought that Leverkusen’s run was coming to an end, up stepped Fuhrich to keep the dream alive. His ‘messy’ goal set the home crowd on fire as they celebrated their 46th game unbeaten!
