Bayern Munich agree to let Davide Alaba leave as a free agent

FC Bayern Munich have agreed to let defender Davide Alaba to leave as a free agent. The Austrian international has been a long servant of the club and recently won the UEFA Champions League with them.
However after weeks of negotiations between the player and club, no agreement has been reached. Apparently Alaba wanted a hike in his wages but Munich was not ready to abide.

I do not know how we can still meet since he rejected our proposal for renewal and we must take note of it,
“David can leave us, we’ve already told his agent we won’t be submitting any more offers.
“We are all professionals. We really appreciate Alaba, he is a top player and he is very important for our team.
“If such a player leaves the club as a free agent, it would be the worst damage.”
