Bayern Munich are the winners of Champions League 2020. Kingsley Coman was the goalscorer as Bayern saw through Paris to win 1-0. The win also means Bayern Munich have now won the treble which is their 2nd in the history. An exciting contest was eventually decided by the Frenchman, playing for the German side as PSG fail to win again.
With the win, Bayern also created a record as they became the first side to win all the games in a season (11). Bayern had an excellent control throughout the match with Mbappe and Neymar unable to create chances. When they managed to create, Neuer came out big to get some crucial saves to keep PSG as bay.
The first half started as everyone expected with Bayern controlling possession. When the Germans did not have possession, they played their high-line defence. PSG were able to start their attack on counters with Di Maria, Herrera and Mbappe coming close. Robert Lewandowski also hit the post midway through the second half as the match remained goalless.
Neymar was through in a rare chance forward, but Manuel Neuer made himself big to deny the Brazilian twice. Kylian Mbappe was presented with the best chance of the game at the end of the half, but he could not get the power on it.
The game remained at 0-0 at half time but it was a great game to watch. Both the sides were a match for each other, cancelling the other one out. The second half started brightly for PSG but they could not make the most of it. It was Bayern who finally got the goal through a brilliant assist by Kimmich. A delightful cross into the box was headed in by Coman to open the scoring in the final.
After the goal, Bayern smartly controlled the game. They did not let PSG get into the rhythm. There were more stoppages in the play thereafter. PSG got their best chance to equalise in the last minute when Choupo Mouting could not get the final touch from close range.
Bayern saw out the game and won the Champions League 2020 deservedly. Bayern are not only the Champions League winners, but they have also won the treble. After the success in Germany, the win today sees them win their 2nd treble. Bayern have now equalled Barcelona as the 2 times treble winners.
Hansi Flick has done a brilliant job in turning around this side after taking over from Kovac. Robert Lewandowski has been a sensation throughout the season. Thomas Muller and Manuel Neuer the senior pros regained their form to play a pivotal role in the treble.
On the other hand, the likes of Neymar and Mbappe could not hand PSG, the Champions League glory. Tuchel did a great job to lead them to the finals, but they could not get over the final hurdle. Neymar was teary-eyed at the end, perhaps obviously as another year goes away without European title.
The Parisiens will hope to win it next time while it will be celebration in Munich. The Champions League 2020 came to an perfect end with the best team winning.
