Bayern Munich are ready to offer a massive €120 million contract to left-back Alphonso Davies. Thus, it will likely fend off strong interest from Real Madrid. The 24-year-old full-back is expected to sign a new five-year long deal in the coming days.
Canadian full-back Alpohonso Davies‘ current contract at Bayern Munich expires at the end of the ongoing 2024-25 season. A highly-rated defender, known for his blistering pace and offensive abilities, Davies has made more than 200 appearances for the Bundesliga giants in six years. He was signed from MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps back in 2019.
Real Madrid had emerged as the front-runners to secure Davies’ signature next summer, with the club willing to offer a long-term deal worth a staggering €100 million. However, Bayern Munich has fended off the interest, after having convinced the 24-year-old to sign a contract extension. Bayern’s board has approved a €120 million deal with increased wages until 2030, for Alphonso Davies.
Last Friday, Bayern's supervisory board approved Alphonso Davies' extension and the final package of around €120m, including wages over 5 years, add-ons and signing fee. It is contrary to the fact that the Bavarian club had hoped to cut down on their massive wage bill next season. Bayern’s current wage spending amounts to €340 million, with Harry Kane being the highest earner. However, they may now have to change their plans. The club might also have to offer similar wages to Joshua Kimmich and Jamal Musiala, who also see their contracts run out soon.

Vincent Kompany’s side faces a massive contract dilemma this summer. The contracts of six first-team players including Manuel Neuer, Thomas Muller, Leroy Sane, Kimmich and Davies will expire. Nonetheless, Bayern will hope to keep hold of most of those players.
Real Madrid on plan ‘B’ after having failed to lure Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies to the club
After having failed to lure Bayern Munich full-back Alphonso Davies to the club, Real Madrid have now looked towards a second option for a summer transfer. Exploring the players who could cover the left flank, the club has identified Girona’s Miguel Gutierrez.
Real Madrid have seen their transfer plans for the summer getting derailed after failing in the pursuit of Davies. Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold‘s signature also remains in doubt. Real Madrid academy graduate Miguel Gutierrez has appeared as a target after shining at Girona. He has made over 100 appearances for the club, scoring six goals and providing another 18 assists.

Having departed Real Madrid in 2022 after making ten senior appearances, a return for Gutierrez is well up on the cards. Other options could be Inter Milan’s Federico Dimarco, or a homecoming for AC Milan star Theo Hernandez. It remains to be seen what the club decides to do in the coming days.
